The “Gig Economy,” or freelance work, has grown tremendously in the last four years. The gig economy is often, but not always, based in technology.
According to a 2016 Pew Research survey, some 24% of American adults have used some sort of digital commerce platform to earn money.
New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio signed the Freelance Isn’t Free Act (FIFA) back in November 2016. The law goes into effect May 15th, 2017.
